Another entry from the "Pay attention while cooking" guide

I cheerfully whisked the water into the dried soup, then added the broccoli, and put the pan on to boil.

Then I started thinking about it. "Boil for 10 minutes." Hmm... It seems like this broccoli is going to cook an awfully long time...

SHIT!

"Bring to a roiling boil, then whisk in the soup mixture. Boil for ten minutes."

I
can only shake my head at this really dumb mistake. Now I have to go
back out and watch the pot very carefully, to see exactly when it will
boil, and hope I didn't totally destroy a whole pot of broccoli cheese
soup.

Another entry from the "Pay attention while cooking guide".
Last sunday, I was roasting some potatoes and parsnips with garlic and rosemary and olive oil (yum); took the tray out of the oven to add some sweet potatoes, took off my oven glove (why, oh, why?) and put the tray back in the oven.
Do you have any skin I could borrow for my poor hand?
