Dr. Van Allen, of the University of Iowa, passed away this morning. He was 91.
U of I scientist Van Allen dies
I worked in the Physics Library at the U of I for four years, and had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Van Allen. I would go to the main library to get books out of storage for him, when he needed something right away, rather than having to wait for them to be delivered the next day. He was a wonderful, sweet man, and will be sorely missed.
